Chesterton Academy of St. Nicholas (CASN) is a new classical high school in the Catholic tradition opening up in the fall of 2026 in Northwest Indiana. Our mission is to raise the next generation of joyful leaders and saints, educated in the classical tradition and the truths of the Catholic faith.

We are seeking to fill several roles to teach freshmen humanities classes, including theology, literature, history, and philosophy.

This is an ideal position for someone looking to teach part-time, such as a retired teacher or graduate student.

Position details

We are opening in fall 2026 with a freshmen and sophomore class. We anticipate enrolling 10 to 15 students in the first year and growing from there.

Qualifications

  • Faithful, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church

  • Willingness to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium

  • Experience teaching high schoolers particularly with a background in classical education

Skills and attributes

  • Knowledge of classical education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in History, Literature, Philosophy

  • Background teaching at high school or college level.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Fine Arts Teacher (Choir and Art)

Chesterton Academy of St. Nicholas (CASN) is a new classical high school in the Catholic tradition opening up in the fall of 2026 in Northwest Indiana. Our mission is to raise the next generation of joyful leaders and saints, educated in the classical tradition and the truths of the Catholic faith. We are seeking a fine arts teacher to teach a freshman choir class and art class, with an emphasis on drawing. This position can be split into two or combined with other openings in theology, history, literature, and philosophy.

This is an ideal position for someone looking to teach part-time, such as a retired teacher or choir director, or a graduate student.

Position details

We are opening in fall 2026 with a freshmen and sophomore class. We anticipate enrolling 10 to 15 students in the first year and growing from there.

Qualifications

  • Faithful, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church

  • Willingness to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium

  • Experience teaching high schoolers particularly with a background in classical education

  • Knowledge of liturgical music, particularly traditional Gregorian chant and Byzantine music

Skills and attributes

  • Knowledge of classical education

  • Practicing Catholic with a background in church music

  • Willingness to be flexible—we will be in a temporary location at least the first year and will need to coordinate various part-time schedules
